The Audition Dangle

As actors,

The most common thing we face is rejection.
A word that can mean multiple things in multiple situations, but one that artists usually face more so than others. No one likes feeling unwanted, or unworthy, but it is something performers need to accept, and have a will to face. It truly takes a strong mindset to overcome these thoughts.

I came across this page:
Being Mentally Strong
& I must agree, that it is very spot on with facing job rejection in the performing arts industry.
No, it is not easy to overcome not getting that part we deeply invested in.

I like how each of these steps puts the reality in effect.
It truly does take a strong minded person to deal with rejection. I especially enjoy the step of treating yourself with optimism. The worst thing one can do to themselves is live in this state of denial.
Life is a gift and blessing, so remember that the next time you're feeling abandoned, or upset you did not get the role you had hoped for. As many of you know, it is not in our control at the end of the day.
The best thing you can do is be prepared, and show who you truly are!

If they don't like your choices, your look, your work, etc, move on, because someone else will. :)
